MONROE CO. — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Ragle, Inc. is scheduled to close State Road 48 over Richland Creek on or after Monday, September 16, to complete a bridge rehabilitation project in Monroe County.
The closure will occur between West Vernal Pike and South Garrison Chaple Road just west of Bloomington and is expected to be complete by late November, weather permitting. Crews will begin to place signage in the area before construction.
During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route following State Road 43 to State Road 46 and I-69 to State Road 48.
This project is part of a $3.2 million contract awarded to Ragle, Inc. in July 2023. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, be cautious, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
