BLOOMINGTON — A 26-year-old mother from Bloomington faces serious legal consequences after allegedly abandoning her child and engaging in drug-related activities.
Chloe K. Sullivan, 26, has been charged with multiple felonies, including drug dealing and neglect of a dependent. The charges stem from an incident on August 27, when local law enforcement conducted surveillance on Sullivan’s residence as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation. Police found more than 28 grams of meth and more than 10 grams of cocaine.
According to court documents, officers observed Sullivan loading various items into her white Chevrolet Malibu before departing. Upon stopping and searching her vehicle, police reportedly discovered an assortment of illegal substances, including cocaine, methamphetamine, and suspected fentanyl-laced counterfeit pills.
The investigation took a troubling turn when authorities learned that Sullivan had allegedly left her 4-year-old child unattended in the apartment before leaving. Sullivan reportedly told police she did so because the child was difficult to wake. Law enforcement expressed concern about the child’s safety, noting that the residence was known to be used for drug-related activities.
Sullivan was formally charged on August 28 and is scheduled to appear in Monroe Circuit Court 2 on October 28th at 1:45 p.m. for a pretrial hearing. If convicted, she could face substantial prison time, with a single Level 2 felony carrying a potential sentence of up to 30 years.
The case highlights the intersection of substance abuse issues and child welfare concerns, presenting a complex challenge for local authorities and social services.
