BEDFORD – The birdies flew the coop for Bedford North Lawrence.

The Stars carded six birdies as a team while posting a fly-away win over Brownstown on the front nine at Otis Park on Thursday. BNL finished its on-course preparation for the upcoming Hoosier Hills Conference tournament with a 159-205 victory over the Braves.

Emma Endris continued her solid freshman season, firing an even-par 37 that included two birdies (holes 6 and 9) and two bogeys (3 and 8). Kinleigh Root birdied the second hole to offset two bogeys on her way to 38, and Ellie Horton carded three birdies (with only one par on her scorecard) while totaling 40.

“We had some great rounds out of Root and Endris,” BNL coach Kori Johnston said. “Root stayed creative and did a good job of laughing off bad breaks and getting the ball up and down. Endris also had some not-so-perfect shots but did a great job of just trucking through and getting the ball in the hole.

“Ellie also had a good round. She took advantage of good shots when she could and snagged some birdies (holes 2, 5 and 7). But she also did a good job of minimizing damage on any bad shots.”

Emma Voris completed the team scoring with 44. Abby Schroer paced the Braves with 45.

BNL will compete in the HHC at Valley View on Monday.
