Anthony Bernard Spaulding, 76, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
He was born on May 7, 1948, in Alfordsville, IN, to William and Catherine Spaulding.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Lorna Spaulding of Bedford; daughters Cari Littrell (Jym) of Bedford and Andrea Cox (Jason) of Tallahassee, FL; son Anthony Spaulding (Isis) of Mitchell; four granddaughters, Cadence, Lora, and Della Spaulding, and Ashley Mills; and three sisters, Clara Batchelor of New Albany, Mary Beasley of Bedford, and Carolyn Blake of Avoca, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a stillborn son, his parents, four brothers, and six sisters.
Anthony grew up as one of 14 children on a farm in Alfordsville, IN, later settling in Bedford, IN. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal in 1971. He retired from W.F. Meyers in 2010, after working as a Diamond Saw Grinder for over 30 years. Following retirement, Anthony discovered a passion for landscape painting, wood carving, and chainsaw carving. He loved demonstrating his artistic abilities at craft and art shows throughout the state, especially the annual Covered Bridge and Mushroom festivals in Mansfield, IN. Anthony was an avid fan of Indiana University sports, particularly the basketball and football teams.
He was known for his great sense of humor, his artistic and storytelling talent, his love for his family, and his faith in God. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Anthony chose to be cremated at Christensen Family Funeral Home and services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Anthony’s memory to the L.I.F.E. Food Pantry (lifeindiana.org).
