ALLEN CO. – On Wednesday, September 25, the Allen County Judicial Nominating Commission will interview six applicants for an upcoming trial court judicial position in the Civil Division. The interviews will be held in Courtroom 107 at the Allen County Courthouse, 715 S. Calhoun Street, Fort Wayne. They are open to the public, and decorum rules will be observed.

8:45 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. – Public Session to honor Judge David Avery
9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. – Kevin Mitchell

After all interviews have concluded, the commission, chaired by Supreme Court Justice Christopher Goff, will deliberate in a private executive session to consider applications. The commission considers applicants’ legal education, writings, reputation in the practice of law, and other pertinent information. The commission vote is held publicly following deliberations.
According to Indiana law, the commission is required to submit to the Governor “the three most qualified candidates” for appointment when a vacancy arises. Details on the commission, including membership, are online.
