JEFFERSONVILLE— A Clarksville police officer and Clark County councilman involved in the Jamey Noel investigation is seeking to dismiss the case against him.
John Miller’s attorney, Bart Betteau, submitted a brief to the Clark County Circuit Court, urging the state of Indiana and Special Judge Larry Medlock to drop the felony conflict of interest charge against him.
Allegations suggest that Miller accepted approximately 20-25 complimentary meals from Noel and concert and plane tickets before voting on funding requests from the Utica Township Volunteer Firefighters Association, an organization previously overseen by Noel.
Legal documents reveal that Noel used UTVFA’s funds to cover high-priced meals at renowned restaurants, such as St. Elmo’s in Indianapolis, and trips with Miller.
In the motion filed by Miller’s attorney, it was argued that the evidence does not establish how Miller directly profited from the contracts he voted on during his tenure as a councilman.
