GALENA – Bedford North Lawrence finished third in the Hoosier Hills Conference during girls high school golf action at Valley View on Monday.

The Stars posted a team total of 341. No.4 Floyd Central, paced by a remarkable record-setting round of 10-under 61 by senior Paige Giovenco, won the event with 305, while New Albany was second with 339.

Emma Endris, who carded three birdies, led the way for BNL, earning All-HHC honors with an 80. BNL’s Sammie Nusbaum (84) and Ellie Horton (83) were named Honorable Mention in the league, and Kinleigh Root capped the team scoring with 94.

“We came in hoping for a chance at first, but ultimately expecting it to be a bit of a fight between us and New Albany for second,” BNL coach Kori Johnston said. “Unfortunately we stumbled a little as a team. Floyd posted an impressive score as expected. It’s difficult to catch a team that has a player firing a -10 round on her own.

“I’m super proud of Endris for finishing fifth overall and bringing home All Conference honors as a freshman. She had just a couple of bad holes but overall did a good job of playing simple golf and not getting too crazy out there. Also proud of Sammie and Ellie for securing Honorable Mention honors.”

BNL will host Springs Valley and Brownstown, and celebrate Senior Night, on Thursday at Otis Park.
