MARTINSVILLE — Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 15th in Morgan County. The incident took place just after 12:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Robb Hill Road, near Brooklyn Fire Station 42.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, a shootout erupted at a residence on Robb Hill Road. The victim, whose identity has not yet been released by the Morgan County Coroner’s Office, sustained a gunshot wound and managed to drive away from the scene. Tragically, the man succumbed to his injuries approximately a mile down the road at the intersection with State Road 142.
Law enforcement officials are treating the case as an isolated incident. As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities believe there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Morgan County Major Crimes Task Force is leading the investigation. Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact Detective Josh Sparrow with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS. Tips can be provided anonymously and may result in a reward if they lead to an arrest.
