Charles Ed Johnson, 83, of Bedford, passed away at 7:37 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024, at his residence.
Born June 12, 1941, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Charles M. and Susie (Riggle) Johnson. He married Linda C. (Sons) Johnson on September 4, 1959, and she preceded him in death on September 27, 2010. He later married Karen Shampine on June 12, 2013, and she survives. He owned Ed’s Lawn and Garden until 2003, when he retired. He was a Bedford Masonic Lodge #14 F & AM member, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and Shriners.
Survivors include his wife, Karen, of Bedford; a son, Jeffery (Marda) Johnson, of Greensburg; a daughter, Sherri (Tracy) Hampton, of Morgantown; four grandsons, Andrew (Megan) Hampton, of Greenwood, IN, Ethan (Brenden) Johnson, of Lafayette, Tyler Johnson, and Brayden Johnson, both of Greensburg; five granddaughters, Ali (Brent) Kingen, of Greenwood, Kelli (Travis) Ellett, of Fortville, Aaren (Josh) Mills, of Greenwood, Molly (Taylor) Johnson, of Painesville, OH, and Hannah Johnson, of Greensburg; nine great-grandchildren, Aiden and Oliver Hampton, of Greenwood, Graham, Emmie and Lucas Kingen, of Greenwood, Ellie and Parker Mills, of Greenwood, Piper and Lilli Ellett, of Fortville and a brother, Phil (Kim) Johnson, of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and a sister, Eleanor Harris.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20th, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary, with Pastor Gary Cornwell officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary. A Masonic Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
