SEYMOUR— In response to recent concerns circulating in the community, Seymour Community Schools and the Seymour Police Department addressed a rumor concerning school safety.
The rumor was posted on social media, alleging a potential safety threat to students and staff at one of the local schools. The school district and the police department swiftly investigated the matter and provided accurate information to the public.
Superintendent Brandon Harpe emphasized that the safety and well-being of students and staff are the school district’s top priorities. He assured parents and community members that the rumor was thoroughly investigated and found to be unsubstantiated.
Seymour Police Chief Greg O’Brien urged the community to verify the information before sharing it and to rely on official sources for accurate updates on school safety.
“We take all reports of potential threats seriously and investigate them thoroughly to ensure the safety of our schools,” Chief O’Brien stated. “In this case, after a comprehensive investigation, we can confirm that there is no credible threat to the safety of students and staff at any of the Seymour Community Schools.
Superintendent Harpe and Chief O’Brien emphasized the importance of open communication between the school district, law enforcement, and the community to promptly and effectively address any safety concerns.
