According to Officer Bell’s affidavit, the incident began when he was monitoring traffic from a median near State Road 37 and Dixie Highway. He observed a black passenger car, driven by Grow, with its driver’s head dropping towards their lap and the vehicle crossing the center line. Officer Bell noted that the vehicle’s license plate had expired as the car continued to display erratic behavior, including swerving and tailgating.

After catching up to the vehicle at State Road 37 and 29th Street, Officer Bell activated his emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop at 16th Street and State Road 37. Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Bell encountered Grow, who initially rolled down the back passenger window before correcting her mistake to lower the front passenger window.

During their interaction, Officer Bell observed signs of impairment, including lethargy, slurred speech, and glassy eyes. Grow admitted to using prescription Xanax the night before but denied taking any medication that day. Officer Bell requested Grow to perform field sobriety tests, which she performed poorly.

Officer Haluda, who assisted with the field sobriety tests, noted several indicators of impairment. Grow failed the tests.

Additionally, Grow consented to a Sotoxa test, which revealed positive results for methamphetamine, amphetamines, and benzodiazepines. Following this, Grow agreed to a blood draw at IU Health Bedford. Those results are pending.

Grow was transported to the Bedford Police Department for processing before being taken to the Lawrence County Jail.

Stone City Collision towed her vehicle.

The case highlights the Bedford Police Department’s commitment to ensuring road safety and addressing impaired driving in the community.
