INDIANAPOLIS — An Indiana State Trooper convinced a person not to jump off an interstate sign, police said.
In a post on X, Sgt. John Perrine indicated that Trooper Joe Malone climbed up an interstate sign to convince someone not to jump from it.
Perrine reported that, after some time, the person reached out to Malone and hugged him. The Indianapolis Fire Department then helped them safely get down from the sign.
Indiana State Police also used Malone’s story as an opportunity to remind the public that the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline can be reached in Indiana by dialing 988.
