INDIANAPOLIS – The new westbound I-465 bridge over the White River is on schedule and will be completed this fall. The bridge is a major component of the I-69 Finish Line project and is one of the final structures to be poured before westbound traffic can shift to its final configuration.
Construction of the bridge substructure (foundations, piers, and beams), including six piers, and 120 beams is complete. The bridge superstructure (bridge deck) is underway and nearing completion. The bridge deck is approximately 900 feet in length and includes approximately 3,021,672 pounds of steel rebar. Once the final concrete pour is complete there will be approximately 8,000 cubic yards of concrete in total on this bridge.
Construction crews have poured approximately 50% of the concrete bridge deck, and the remaining pours will continue through the end of September.
