State Troopers seize over 100 Kilos of cocaine during traffic stop

PORTER CO. – On Monday, September 16th, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Indiana State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division stopped a semi at the I-94 eastbound scales for a motor carrier violation.  The scales are approximately two miles east of State Road 49 in Porter County. 

During the traffic stop, a State Police K9 did a free-air sniff of the semi and the vehicle, alerting troopers to drugs. Police searched the trailer and reported finding 123.9 kilos of cocaine. 

The driver, Naseeb Chisty, 49, from Canada, was taken into custody without incident and later incarcerated at the Porter County Jail on charges of dealing cocaine, a Level 2 felony, and possession of cocaine, a Level 3 felony.

 All individuals arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges are accusations, and the legal process will determine the outcome based on the evidence presented.
