BNL bounces past scrappy Shoals in 4 sets

SHOALS – Bedford North Lawrence recorded its second straight win with a four-set triumph over Shoals during high school volleyball action on Thursday.

After dropping the first set, the Stars (9-6) recovered for a 12-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-19 victory. The Jug Rox slipped to 11-10.

“Shoals was a scrappy team,” BNL coach Aaron Wagoner said. “They did a great job, took us out the first set. We rallied, stayed resilient and took the next three.

“All our hitters were effective at different times. We did have to battle through some ball control issues, but we battled all the same.”

Sammie Gratzer paced BNL with 22 kills, Jenna Allen totaled 7 kills, while Jayden Allen posted 7 kills and 4 service aces.

The Stars will visit Orleans on Monday.
