Indiana DNR seeks public help in investigating boat dumping incidents

INDIANA— The Indiana Department of Natural Resources law enforcement division is asking the public for help tracking down individuals responsible for illegally dumping boats on public properties.

In a statement released Wednesday, the department reported two recent incidents within the last week that have raised concerns. The first incident involved an abandoned boat at the Menominee Public Access Site near the Tippecanoe River in Fulton County, just north of Rochester off North Old U.S. 31 along East County Road 350 North.

The second incident occurred at the Mississinewa Reservoir, where a boat was found partially submerged near the Frances Slocum Boat Ramp in Wabash County, southeast of Peru off Mississinewa Dam Road/West County Road 700 South.

To aid in the investigation, the DNR posted photos of the dumped boats on Thursday on Facebook, hoping to engage the community in identifying the vessels and their owners.

If you recognize the boats or have any information regarding these incidents, the Indiana DNR encourages you to contact them. Tips can be provided anonymously by calling 800-847-4367 or contacting the Indiana conservation office dispatchers at 812-837-9536.

The department is committed to preserving Indiana’s natural resources and maintaining the integrity of public access sites, urging the public to help combat this illegal activity.
