Sowders earns medalist honors as Bluejackets place second at PLAC match

FRENCH LICK — The Mitchell High School Girls Golf team had a strong showing at the Patoka Lake Athletic Conference match held at Valley Links Golf Course, finishing second overall in the team standings.

Anna Sowders led the charge for Mitchell, shooting an impressive 44, earning medalist honors for the lowest individual score of the day. Her stellar performance anchored the team and showcased her talent on the challenging course.

Bella Morrow shot a 59, earning all-conference honors for her solid round. Keely Merry contributed with a 63, while Kylee Merry rounded out the team’s score with a 71.

In the overall competition, Orleans claimed the team title with a score of 235, followed by Mitchell in second place. Crawford County finished third with a score of 248, and West Washington rounded out the standings with a 256.

Mitchell’s strong second-place finish, bolstered by Sowders’ medalist round, gives the team momentum as they prepare for postseason play.
