BEDFORD—The Bedford Housing Authority Board of Commissioners met at the Hauck House Commons today, September 19, for its monthly regular session. The agenda included upgrades to the properties they manage, specifically Hamilton Courts and Hauck House.
Due to malfunctions in the system, the DVR recorder for the Hauck House security system will need to be replaced. Fedcon installed the existing unit in 2019 for $1790, and Leading Edge is replacing it at a much lower rate of $1300.
Coming soon to the Hauck House, residents will have access to parcel boxes, making collecting delivered packages easier for everyone. The current system requires the office to collect the package, and the resident must come pick it up. When the new boxes are installed, residents will be provided a key to the parcel box so the office does not have to get involved. The mail carrier will simply place the package in the box for retrieval.
An Nspire inspection revealed that Hamilton Courts needed some updates, and the board passed a resolution to allow Waldrip Construction to perform the work. Due to a change in regulation, 124 smoke detectors are being installed, as one unit is now required in every bedroom. The detectors run on a closed battery system with a ten-year service life, so residents do not have to worry about updating them but once every decade.
Waldrip will also install 160 modern GFCI outlets in areas where contact with water is more likely. A ground-fault circuit interrupter, or GFCI, is a fast-acting circuit breaker designed to shut off electric power in the event of a ground fault within as little as 1/40 of a second.
