Marion County judicial applicant interviews October 28-29

INDIANAPOLIS—On Monday, October 28, and Tuesday, October 29, the Marion County Judicial Selection Committee will interview 27 applicants for two trial court judicial positions.

The interviews will be held in the Supreme Court Conference Room (Statehouse 319) at 200 W. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204. They are open to the public, and decorum rules will be observed.

After all interviews, the committee will deliberate in a private executive session to consider applications. The committee considers applicants’ legal education, writings, reputation in law practice, and other pertinent information. The executive sessions are authorized under IC 33-33-49-13.1(q) and IC 5-14.1-1.5. The committee vote (on two panels of three finalists) is held publicly following deliberations.

According to Indiana law, the committee must submit to the Governor “the three most qualified candidates” for appointment when a vacancy arises. Details on the committee, including membership, are online.
