Christie (Key) Guthrie-Jenkins, 65, of Bedford, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024, at Mitchell Manor in Mitchell.
Christie was born July 9, 1959, in Bedford, Indiana, to Roy E. Key and Sandra L. (Shirley) Bridwell. She had a brother, Mark E. Key, who preceded her in death on January 9, 2017. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She married George Jenkins, the once in a lifetime love of her life, September 1, 2005 and he proceeded her in death May 24, 2022.
Christie worked in the legal field all of her adult life, from secretarial work in attorneys’ offices to being the late Judge Dixon’s right-hand lady. In the early 1990s, Christie began her own court reporting business. She traveled many miles working for attorneys all over the state of Indiana.
Christie enjoyed traveling and spending time with her beautiful grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Brooke Carroll; the world’s greatest son-in-law, Chad; step-daughter Shelia Jenkins of Lexington, Kentucky, and step-son Christopher Jenkins (Michelle Rethmeier) of Cecilia, Kentucky; grandchildren, twins Eric Michael Carroll and Alexis Sue Carroll, and Noah Edward Carroll, and Theresa Drake of Lexington, Kentucky.
Christie was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Sandra, in 2021 and 2022, respectively, step-father Michael “Mike” Bridwell in 2005, brother Mark Edward Key, in 2017, and husband George Jenkins, in 2022.
To honor Christie’s wishes, cremation was chosen with no visitation or service.
