MORGAN CO. — A tragic accident early Saturday morning resulted in the death of a pedestrian in Morgan County. According to a press release from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene near State Road 252 and Whetstine Road around 4:30 a.m. following reports of a crash involving a pedestrian.
Upon arrival, authorities found an unresponsive woman lying in a ditch. She was later identified as 33-year-old Victoria Johnson of Martinsville. Despite the prompt response, Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Morgan County Coroner’s Office.
The driver in the incident remained at the location and cooperated with investigators. Preliminary findings suggest that speed and impairment were not factors in the crash. Deputies determined that Johnson was walking westbound, approximately two feet from the westbound lane of SR 252, and was wearing dark clothing at the time.
