JAY CO.- A former Jay County Deputy was arrested on a warrant Wednesday following a lengthy investigation.
In February 2024, the Jay County Sheriff requested that the Indiana State Police Ft. Wayne Post investigate the actions of one of its officers. Detective Matt Teusch investigated the alleged actions of Derek J. Bogenschutz, 36.
This investigation ultimately led to a warrant being issued this week for Level 6 Felony Identity Deception. Bogenschutz was arrested today in Miami County and is expected to be transported to Jay County this week to appear on this charge.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
