DUBOIS CO — Multiple mosquito pools in Dubois County have tested positive for the West Nile Virus.
Dubois County Health Department announced Wednesday that four samples recently tested positive.
Health Department reminds folks to stay vigilant in protecting themselves from the virus by:
- Applying insect repellant containing DEET to clothes and exposed skin
- Wear light-colored clothing
- Avoid wet, highly vegetative areas where mosquitoes live
- Avoid being outdoors during prime mosquitoes biting times, dusk to dawn, when possible
Other areas to keep an eye out for them include eliminating areas of standing water, clean clogged gutters, keep grass short, and repair failing septic systems. Health department also ask folks to keep an eye out for domestic animals, such as horses. The virus can often be fatal for horses.
