Albert ‘Al’ Dean Canada, 83, of Mitchell, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024, at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born June 16, 1941, in Greene County, he was the son of Russell Lowell and Nellie (Shelton) Canada. He married Sue Ellen Arnold on March 11, 1960, and she survives.
Al graduated from Shawswick High School in 1959 and worked as a master plumber. He was a member of Oriental Lodge No. 500 in Indianapolis and a 32nd-degree Mason. Al was also an avid fisherman.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Ellen Canada of Mitchell; children, Patricia (Rodney) Standifer of Avon, Robert ‘Bob’ (Tonya) Canada of Norman, and Diana Marie Jeffries of Beech Grove; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and siblings, Linda Smart of Louisiana and Ronnie Canada of Virginia.
His parents, daughter Debra Sue Stailey, grandchildren Joshua Standifer, Heather Caudill, and Tyler Stailey, and brother Jim Canada preceded him in death.
Cremation has been chosen with graveside service at a later date at Mitchell Cemetery.
