State Police warning of Email Extortion Scam

INDIANA—Indiana State Police Detectives have recently received an increase in reports of a typical email extortion scam. Each scam attempt uses similar tactics and targets a victim by including the person’s name, address, and sometimes a photograph of their home.

In the email, the scammer claims to have installed Pegasus spyware on the victim’s phone and attempts to extort money from them.
