The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce acquires Best Places to Work Awards

BLOOMINGTON– The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce and The Mill are excited to announce the transition of the Best Places to Work awards program to the Chamber. This initiative, which has been a fixture in Bloomington’s business community since 2018, will enter an exciting new chapter under the Chamber’s stewardship, with the first event scheduled for November 2025.

Originally created by The Mill in partnership with the Bloomington Economic Development Corporation (BEDC) and the Herald Times, the Best Places to Work awards were designed to celebrate the exceptional companies that contribute to Bloomington’s vibrant work environment. The initiative was developed with the goal of highlighting and recognizing local businesses while ensuring a low barrier to entry so that all companies could participate and be acknowledged.

The Best Places to Work awards recognize companies based on comprehensive survey feedback, assessing various aspects of workplace culture, employee satisfaction, and overall work environment. The results are compiled from surveys distributed to both employees and employers, reflecting the organization’s commitment to fostering positive workplace environments.

Eric Spoonmore, President & CEO of the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce, stated, “We are thrilled to carry forward the legacy of the Best Places to Work awards and continue celebrating Bloomington’s top employers. This program not only acknowledges outstanding workplaces but also inspires others to enhance their workplace cultures.”

Pat East, Executive Director of The Mill, commented, “The Mill is proud to have propelled this program forward over the years, shining a spotlight on Bloomington’s thriving business community. However, as The Mill continues to focus on nurturing the city’s startup ecosystem, it’s time for the program to find a new home. The Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce is well-positioned to take the reins, and we’re excited to see how they will continue fostering the program’s growth in the years to come.”

The Mill is confident that the Chamber will build on the strong foundation established and maintain the Best Places to Work awards as a hallmark of excellence for local employers.
