SPENCER – The Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Owen County Community Foundation have announced the grand opening of the MyPath Riverfront Trail.
This newly completed trail, funded with support from Next Level Trails, aims to provide a recreational space for the local community. The asphalt multi-use trail, which spans just under a mile, was made possible by a nearly $640,000 NLT grant. The project enhances the previous natural surface trail along the White River, creating a link between Pottersville Road and River Road south of Spencer.
In addition to providing a scenic route along the river, the trail connects users to a lowlands reforestation project and pollinator garden. Furthermore, it establishes a new trailhead on the river’s west fork, featuring an 80-foot ADA-accessible bridge over Elliston Creek.
This development is expected to improve accessibility and provide an enjoyable outdoor experience for all visitors to the area.
