BEDFORD—The Men’s Warming Shelter hosted Spaghetti on the Square last Saturday, September 28, and it was a roaring success. The rain didn’t hinder the dinner, and over $37,000 was raised as 450 attendees enjoyed the food and fellowship, making this a record-breaking year for the event. Due to the weather, the change was made to move the event to First Christian Church at the corner of 15th and K Streets. The turnout was so positive that tables had to be set up in the church hallway to accommodate.
Heather Flynn, executive director of Stone City Alliance for Recovery and Hope, attributes a large portion of the event’s success to the number of local sponsors and wants to thank them for their support. To see a list of sponsors, check out the Men’s Warming Shelter of Bedford’s Facebook page here.
Flynn also wanted to thank the following board members for all their hard work and dedication:
Lori Branham, Wally Branham, Brad Bough, Kim Burgess, Charles Edwards, Linda Fitzpatrick, Josh Jackson, Tina Kern, Janice Pendergrass, David Smith, Linda Smith, Greg Stanley, Ed Stephenson, and Tim Thompson.
In addition to community sponsors and the board members, Flynn expressed her appreciation to the many volunteers who played a vital role in making the Spaghetti on the Square event a success, dedicating their time and energy to support a worthy cause. Their commitment not only ensures a smooth, enjoyable event for attendees but also directly benefits the Men’s Warming Shelter, which relies on the funds raised. Volunteers are the heart of this community effort, helping with everything from serving food to setting up and demonstrating how a little time can make a big difference in the lives of those in need. Flynn stated their contributions are essential to keeping the shelter’s doors open during the cold winter months.
