BEDFORD – Kenneth Probasco, a 40-year-old resident of Bedford, was arrested on September 28 following a domestic incident that left his partner injured. Probasco now faces serious charges, including domestic battery resulting in injury and strangulation, both Level 6 felonies.
The Lawrence County Central Dispatch received multiple 911 calls around 2:02 p.m. from a mobile home where the incident occurred. Although the callers were unable to speak, there were reported signs of distress. Officers arrived on the scene at 2:14 p.m. and found the door missing from the mobile home.
Upon arrival, Officer Chris Griggs encountered a visibly upset female who initially claimed there were armed individuals inside the residence but later clarified that the only person present was Probasco, with whom she had recently ended a relationship.
She detailed an account of the altercation, stating that an argument ensued after the door to the mobile home fell off. She alleged that Probasco choked her from behind, rendering her unable to breathe and causing her to lose consciousness momentarily. In a desperate attempt to signal for help, she headbutted a window, breaking it to draw attention.
Officers noted that the woman’s injuries were consistent with her account. Probasco, when interviewed, acknowledged being involved in the incident but claimed he only “hugged” the woman from behind.
A male on the property confirmed hearing the argument but did not witness the altercation.
Probasco was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict
