INDIANA — The Tony Stewart Foundation, founded by Columbus native and former NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart, has announced it will close its doors, marking the end of a significant chapter in its 20-year history of philanthropy.
In a heartfelt statement released Monday, Stewart expressed his gratitude to everyone who has supported the foundation’s mission. “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closure of The Tony Stewart Foundation. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been a part of our journey,” he said.
Over the past two decades, the foundation has focused on supporting children, animals, and injured racecar drivers, both in Indiana and across the United States. “We have enjoyed every minute of working with these wonderful organizations to deliver vital services. It has been an honor to see the positive changes and smiles these efforts have brought to communities far and wide,” Stewart continued.
As he shifts focus to his current endeavors in the NHRA drag racing series, Stewart urged his fans and supporters to continue their commitment to community service. “As we look forward to the future and reflect on the past, we hope you will continue to make a meaningful impact on those around you,” he said.
In addition to closing the foundation, Stewart is also stepping away from his long-standing role as a NASCAR team owner. His team, Stewart-Haas Racing, co-owned with Gene Haas, will cease operations at the conclusion of the current NASCAR Cup Series season.
Stewart’s legacy in both racing and philanthropy has left a lasting impact, and while the foundation will be missed, its contributions to communities and individuals in need will be remembered for years to come.
