PAOLI—Sweet potatoes’ vibrant orange hue is lighting up local markets as farmers in the Paoli area celebrate a particularly fruitful harvest this fall. Ideal weather conditions throughout the growing season have led to abundant high-quality produce, delighting both growers and consumers alike.
Orange County Youth Mentoring is proud to partner with Paoli schools for their National Day of Service to harvest over 200 pounds of sweet potatoes, which will be delivered to the county. This year’s yield was impressive.
Sweet potatoes are driven by their nutritional benefits and versatility in cooking. As consumers become more health-conscious, sweet potatoes have gained popularity for their high fiber content and rich vitamins.
On Thursday, October 10, arrive at the Orange County Garden at 202 Cherry Street in Paoli between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to receive a free bag of sweet potatoes with recipes.
They will distribute the food to the community along with Team OC and the Paoli High School volunteers. All remaining sweet potatoes will be distributed to the three local food pantries.
