Bedford man arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct

According to Officer Joshua Turner’s probable cause affidavit, dispatch received a call about a shirtless man causing a commotion around 12:30 a.m. The caller noted that the man appeared distressed, prompting police intervention.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers heard Carlisle yelling before locating him outside the Bedford Barbershop. He was described as disheveled and wearing only unbuttoned shorts. Previous encounters with Carlisle had occurred earlier that evening, raising the officers’ concerns about his well-being.

Officer Turner reported that Carlisle exhibited erratic behavior, including throwing his body around and making rapid movements with his arms and head. Based on his experience, the officer suspected that Carlisle was under the influence of illegal substances.

Carlisle was read his Miranda rights once he was placed in handcuffs. When questioned about his state, he denied using drugs and claimed he was “messing around.” He also indicated that he did not require medical assistance. He told police he was homeless.

Once transported to the Lawrence County Jail on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct. Carlisle reportedly admitted to having smoked methamphetamine.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
