SEYMOUR– In the late evening hours of Monday, October 7, patrol and interdiction officers conducted a drug investigation at an apartment in the 200 block of Marley Lane, following up on recent drug-related tips.
Upon arrival, officers encountered 30-year-old Brooklyn Maxie, of Seymour, accompanied by a twelve-year-old juvenile.
During their conversation, Maxie acknowledged the presence of marijuana in the apartment and initially consented to a search. However, she rescinded her consent, prompting officers to pause the investigation. In response, officers sought and were granted a search warrant from the Jackson County Circuit Court.
Once the warrant was secured, officers thoroughly searched the residence. Their findings included significant amounts of illegal substances, specifically methamphetamine and cocaine, along with scales, baggies, marijuana, and various items of drug paraphernalia.
As a result of the investigation, Maxie was arrested and charged with several offenses, including possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and neglect of a dependent. The Indiana Department of Child Services was notified due to the presence of the juvenile in the home during the incident.
Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
