Two Seymour men arrested for theft of tools, copper from local business

SEYMOUR- On October 4, 2024, patrol officers and investigators with the Seymour Police Department responded to Home Products located at 885 N. Chestnut St. in reference to a burglary of a large amount of copper wire, rolls of copper, and battery-powered tools. The value of the copper and battery-powered tools was estimated at over $9,000.00. Evidence was collected at the scene.

Leads were followed up, and on October 11, 2024, investigators arrested Colin B. Erwin, age 28, of Seymour, for burglary, a level 5 felony, and two counts of theft, level 6 felonies. On October 14, 2024, investigators arrested Michael C. Miller, age 45, of Seymour, for burglary, a level 5 felony, and theft, a level 6 felony. Both were taken to the Jackson County Jail.

Investigators did recover some of the stolen property during the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
