Hoosier Hills Armed Forces Families Association needs donations for Christmas Care Packages sent to soldiers

BEDFORD- The Hoosier Hills Armed Forces Families Association is sending Christmas care packages to our men and women in uniform. You can help bring Christmas cheer to those serving in the military by donating any way you can. The care packages will be packed and mailed on November 23, and donation boxes are set up in Bedford at:

Crane Credit Union: 1201 James Ave

Thomas Insurance: 1701 16th Street

Inkling’s Bookstore: 1020 16th Street

Items needed for care packages:

* Candy, such as Twizzlers, Jelly Belly, and candy bars.

* Protein bars, granola bars. Cereal bars and pop tarts.

* Dried meats such as beef jerky, etc.

* Gum

* Nuts, sunflower seeds

* Dried fruit

* Jelly, not in glass jars

* Peanut Butter, not in glass jars

* Crackers, cookies (in small boxes)

* Instant oatmeal

* Condiment packets, such as honey, hot sauce, creamer, sugar, ketchup, mayonnaise

* Coffee, instant

* Hot chocolate

* Tea

* Drink mix packets, such as iced tea or lemonade, particularly the ones that come in little packets for water bottles.

* Skin lotion with SPF

* Lip protection, such as Chapstick

* Books, magazines (NO pornography)

* Stationery, notebooks, pens

* Over-the-counter medications, such as anti-diarrheal, antibiotic cream, antacids, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, cold/cough drops, etc.

* Spiritual books and pamphlets for Soldiers who look to their Christian culture for guidance, strength, and inspiration.

Also added to this list.

* Small games.

* Playing cards.

* Small puzzles.

* Crossword puzzle books.

* Chocolate can be mailed in the Christmas package

* Tuna in packets.

* Socks – Army green and black.

* Toothpaste.

* Toothbrushes.

* Dental Floss.

* Sunscreen. (Small bottles.)

* Chips in the small canisters only. The bags will burst in transit.

NO glass containers.

Cards and letters are needed to put in the care packages. Monetary donations are always welcomed and greatly appreciated as well. Postage is very expensive. Make check or money orders out to: HHAFFA. You may call at 812-583-4736, please leave a message if you get voicemail.
