BEDFORD — A monkey attacked a three-year-old child at a Walmart store in Bedford on Wednesday afternoon.
Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore confirmed the incident, stating that a six-teen-year-old Java Macaque pet monkey scratched the child. The child’s parents declined medical treatment at the scene.
Fox59 reported that a woman claiming to be the child’s mother said the monkey’s owner presented paperwork designating the animal as an “emotional support animal.” However, she alleged that the paperwork was registered to a dog. The monkey reportedly wore a diaper with a leash attached to its waist.
It is unclear if this incident is under investigation by Bedford police.
