WASHINGTON—Get ready to celebrate the holiday season. Entries are now being accepted for the 2024 Daviess County Christmas Parade, which will take place on Saturday, December 7th, at 6 p.m. The Parade lineup begins at 5 p.m. near the intersection of NE 7th and Bedford Road.
This year’s theme, “Christmas Around the World,” invites participants to showcase diverse holiday traditions through festive decorations and illuminated displays. All entries must be decorated with lights to be eligible for prizes.
Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded in several categories:
- Best Overall: $200 and a trophy
- Best Business/Commercial: $150 and a trophy
- Best Non-Profit: $100 and a trophy
Additionally, the best-lighted window display at a Main Street business will receive a $100 cash prize and a traveling trophy. Float judging will occur during the lineup.
To keep the magic alive for the little ones, the parade committee kindly requests that no Santas be included in any parade entries. Santa will make his grand appearance at the end of the parade lineup.
After the parade, children can visit Santa at the new Commons area at the corner of Main and 3rd Streets, providing a perfect opportunity for festive photos and holiday cheer.
For more details or to enter the parade, contact the Washington Mayor’s office at 812-254-5575 or email debbie.neukam@washingtonin.us. There is no fee to participate, and while registration is not mandatory, it is encouraged to ensure a smooth event.
