Monroe County Sheriff’s Office seeks Animal Management Officer

BEDFORD – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Animal Management Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to citizen complaints and reports related to lost, stray, or wild animals, as well as animal mistreatment and bites.

Duties will include patrolling county roads, capturing wild or stray animals, and transporting them to a shelter. The officer will also rescue sick or injured animals, investigate reported violations of state and local ordinances, and issue violation or warning tickets to pet owners as appropriate.

Qualifications for the position include a high school diploma or GED, college training in a related field, and must be at least 21 years old. Candidates must also be able to meet all hiring requirements, including passing a drug test and medical exam, and obtaining required certifications such as CPR, handgun/firearm, and Levels 1, 2, and 3 certifications by the National Animal Control Association. The ability to respond to animal-related emergencies on a 24-hour basis is essential.

The starting salary for the position is between $40,935 and $47,300, with a work schedule of Tuesday through Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM, with additional hours as needed.
