BEDFORD– Cypriot pianist Andreas Ioannides seeks to share his passion for music through a multifaceted career dedicated to performance, interpretation, and piano teaching. He has made concert appearances throughout Europe, Asia, and North and South America, and on October 29th, he will add performing in Bedford, Indiana, to his list of accolades. He will be playing at First United Methodist Church, 1409 K Street, at 7:00 p.m. Ioannides will perform pieces by Frederic Chopin, who is widely considered to be the most influential and important piano player in history. The show is free to attend, but donations are appreciated to support ChamberFest Brown County, a classical music festival he founded in 2021 in Nashville, Indiana.
Andreas moved to the United States at 19 years old to pursue an education in music, graduating from Indiana University in 2019 with a Doctorate of Music degree. Although he has performed at venues such as Boston Symphony Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Berlin Konzerthaus, the Seoul Arts Center, and the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro, he is always drawn back to Southern Indiana. “It’s an area which I really have a soft spot for,” Ioannides told WBIW News, “the people are just so real and warm, it’s a special place.”
He is the founder and Artistic Director of ChamberFest Brown County, a chamber music festival in rural Indiana that seeks to inspire audiences through classical music performance and education of the highest caliber. “Chamber music is written for a small ensemble to be played in a very intimate setting,” he explained. The performer and audience are able to interact and break the stigma that classical music is intimidating. We felt that classical music was waiting to make an appearance in Brown County.” The 2025 ChamberFest Brown County is scheduled for August 17-23.
