Tyler Reddick triumphs at the Straight Talk Wireless 400, advances in NASCAR Playoffs

HOMESTEAD, FL — Tyler Reddick of 23XI Racing secured his place in the Championship 4 with a thrilling victory at the Straight Talk Wireless 400 held at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. Reddick dominated the race, completing 267 laps and finishing with a margin of victory of just 0.241 seconds over second-place Ryan Blaney.

This win marks Reddick’s eighth career NASCAR Cup Series victory and his third of the season. He also led in Stage 1 before Denny Hamlin of Joe Gibbs Racing clinched Stage 2.

The race featured six caution periods, totaling 30 laps, with all but five of the 38 drivers finishing on the lead lap. Reddick’s victory advances him to the Championship 4 alongside Joey Logano, with Christopher Bell and William Byron above the cutline. Key competitors like Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin sit below the cutline with one race remaining before the championship showdown.

Stewart-Haas Racing Highlights: Ryan Preece led the Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) team with a commendable 10th-place finish after starting 35th. This result marks Preece’s fifth top-10 finish of the season and his best finish at Homestead, improving from 13th last year. He also earned two bonus points by finishing ninth in Stage 2.

Josh Berry finished just outside the top 10 in 11th, marking his 10th top-15 result of the season in his first Cup Series appearance at Homestead. Chase Briscoe finished 12th, achieving his 15th top-15 finish this season and surpassing his previous best at the track. Noah Gragson completed the SHR lineup with a 19th-place finish, his best result at Homestead.

Ryan Preece reflected on his performance, stating, “We had a good car and got a top-10 out of it. Just had to fight for it.” Josh Berry echoed positive sentiments about his team’s efforts: “It was fun… everybody at Stewart-Haas brought some good cars.” Meanwhile, Chase Briscoe acknowledged his car’s challenges but remained optimistic about long-run speed.

The NASCAR Cup Series will continue with the XFINITY 500 at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday, November 3, 2024. The race will begin at 2 p.m. EST and be live-covered on NBC and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. As the penultimate race of the NASCAR Playoffs, all eyes will be on the drivers as they vie for a coveted spot in the Championship 4.
