Free Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program launches in Bedford with take-home meal kits

BEDFORD—The Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program is set to launch a comprehensive four-week nutrition course in Bedford. The course will offer participants both educational resources and practical cooking solutions. The free classes will begin November 7th at the Hope Resource Center, located at 717 Lincoln Avenue, led by Nutrition Education Program Advisor JJ Goldsberry.

The program, running from 5-6 p.m. on November 7th, 14th, 21st, and December 5th, aims to make healthy eating more accessible and practical for local families. Each session will feature nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, and recipe sampling. In a significant benefit to participants, the program will provide free weekly meal kits designed to feed a family of four, allowing attendees to recreate healthy meals in their homes.

“This program combines hands-on learning with practical resources,” explains Goldsberry. “Participants will not only learn nutrition basics but also receive all the ingredients needed to prepare simple, healthy meals for their families.”

The initiative is made possible through collaboration between the Lawrence County Health Department, Hope Resource Center, and Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program. It is free to all community members.
