Join the fight against invasive species at Weed Wrangles – Invasive Plant Awareness Days

BLOOMINGTON—This fall, nature enthusiasts and community members are invited to participate in the Weed Wrangles—Invasive Plant Awareness Days event. The event aims to control invasive species and promote healthier wildlife habitats. It will take place at Lower Cascades Park, and volunteers are encouraged to learn from experts while actively contributing to conservation efforts.

Here are the dates you can volunteer:

  • Sat, Nov 2, 2024 – 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  
  • Sat, Dec 7, 2024 – 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  
  • Sat, Jan 4, 2025 – 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.   
  • Sat, Feb 1, 2025 – 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. 
  • Sat, Mar 1, 2025 – 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. 

Volunteers will meet at the Sycamore Shelter, Lower Cascades Park, 2851 North Old State Road 37, in Bloomington.

Participants will perform various tasks, including bending, hiking, climbing, and using sharp tools to remove invasive plant species. All necessary tools and gloves will be provided.

Volunteers must be 12 years or older. An adult must accompany those under 14. Participants under 18 will need a signed Underage Waiver of Liability from a parent or guardian, which can be completed digitally here.
