JASPER— A tragic accident on October 30th resulted in the death of a Huntingburg woman after a single-vehicle crash. At approximately 3:55 p.m., Jasper Police responded to the scene at US 231 and Division Road intersection.
The driver, Linda Lou Dalziel, was found inside her 2007 Toyota Camry, which was engulfed in flames in the engine compartment. First responders quickly removed Dalziel from the burning vehicle and initiated life-saving efforts until Memorial Hospital EMS arrived and transported her to the hospital. Unfortunately, she later succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators determined that Dalziel’s vehicle was traveling at high speed on the northbound shoulder of US 231 before veering off the road and colliding with a utility pole. The Jasper Police Department received assistance from several agencies, including the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department, the Dubois County Coroner’s Office, and other emergency services.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
