John Wallace Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution to add names to Revolutionary Soldiers’ Plaque at Courthouse

BEDFORD—On Tuesday, the Lawrence County Commissioners approved the John Wallace Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution to clean and update the Revolutionary Soldiers’ Plaque at the courthouse.

Initially established in 1949 with 29 names, a second plaque was added in 1976 with 16 additional names. A new third plaque, which includes 13 names, will honor those who served in the Revolution.

The chapter aims to complete the installation of the new plaque and clean the existing ones in time for the country’s 250th anniversary. The John Wallace Chapter will cover all funding for the project, ensuring no costs will be incurred by the county. This initiative highlights the group’s commitment to preserving the legacy of those who fought for American independence.
