CLARKSVILLE – A Clarksville man was arrested Monday after a lengthy multi-jurisdictional investigation into online child solicitation and child pornography.
From March 2022 until July 2024, the Indiana State Police received 14 cyber tips forwarded through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). These tips are interconnected through common names, IP addresses, telephone numbers, and other identifying information. During the same period, the Gainesville Police Department investigated a case related to a juvenile within their jurisdiction. Through their investigation, Gainesville and the ISP learned they were dealing with the same suspect.
On Monday, 20-year-old Dakari Gaines was arrested after Detectives with the Indiana Crimes Against Children Task Force served search warrants at his home in Clarksville. He was arrested without incident and lodged in the Clark County Jail on charges of child exploitation, child solicitation, and inappropriate communications with a child.
The Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is a multiagency task force that investigates and prosecutes persons who use the internet to exploit or entice children sexually, and the Indiana State Police oversees the task force.
The Indiana ICAC Task Force encourages Hoosiers to report online exploitation, solicitation, and enticement-type crimes against children to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
