DAVIESS CO. – Daviess County officials have lifted the burn ban following recent rainfall, significantly reducing the risk of large, spreading fires in the area.
According to Daviess County Emergency Management Agency, the burn ban placed earlier due to dry conditions and increased fire danger is no longer necessary. Recent rains have helped to alleviate the high risk of wildfires, as the moisture has reduced the likelihood of fires spreading rapidly.
Additionally, the completion of most of the harvest season and the beginning of field tillage have further reduced the fire risk. With fewer crops in the field and the soil being turned, the availability of dry, flammable materials has diminished.
Although the burn ban has been lifted, local officials remind residents to exercise caution when conducting outdoor burning, especially during dry periods. Burning activities should still be undertaken with care, and all local regulations should be followed to ensure public safety.
