BEDFORD—Ashley Bowman, of Salem, will serve the remainder of her sentence at the Indiana Department of Corrections after she violated the terms of her probation.
Bowman, 31, was sentenced by Lawrence Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline to 710 days in prison after violating her probation.
Bowman had pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, on January 4, 2024, as part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. Under the terms of the plea, she was initially sentenced to 730 days in prison, with 718 days suspended. The remaining 545 days of her sentence were to be served on supervised probation.
However, Bowman failed to meet the conditions of her probation, which led to the revocation of her suspended sentence. Judge Cline determined that Bowman’s probation had been violated and sentenced her to serve the entire 710 days in the IDOC, effectively terminating her probation as unsuccessful.
Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Meza represented the State of Indiana in the case and commented on the court’s decision, “Probation is a second chance for those who want to turn their lives around, but when that opportunity is ignored or violated, the court must take appropriate action. In this case, the defendant failed to meet the requirements set forth, and the court held her accountable.”
