Human remains found in Scott County, Investigation Ongoing

SCOTT CO. – Authorities have discovered human remains in Scott County in the area where missing woman Amanda Martin was last seen. The remains were located on Tuesday, October 21, by deputies from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and detectives from the Indiana State Police.

Amanda Martin, 32, of Scottsburg, was reported missing by her family after they had not heard from her since September 13. Her disappearance had sparked concern in the local community, with family members and law enforcement continuing to search for any leads in the weeks since.

On Tuesday, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the remains found during the search were in the same area where Martin was last seen. The sheriff’s office emphasized that the remains are now scheduled for a forensic examination to confirm the identity and determine the cause of death. Authorities expect the examination to take six to eight weeks to complete.
