BLOOMINGTON– Indiana University (IU) has announced that on-campus residence hall and dining rates will increase across all IU campuses for the 2024-2025 academic year. The IU Board approved the rate hikes of Trustees, which will affect students living in residence halls at the university’s flagship Bloomington campus and IU campuses in Indianapolis, South Bend, and Southeast.
Standard room and board rates will increase by 2% on the IU Bloomington campus, bringing the annual cost for on-campus students to $12,431. Dining rates will also rise by 2%. The university also announced that renovations to the Wright Quadrangle are scheduled to be completed by early next year, with the renovated facility set to reopen for students in fall 2025.
At IU Indianapolis, the annual cost of room and board will rise by 2% to $13,331 per year. Dining costs on the Indianapolis campus will increase slightly by 2.5%.
In South Bend, students will face a 3% increase in residence hall rates across all rooms, with the most common room rate being $6,951. Beginning in fall 2025, all on-campus residents at IU South Bend must purchase a dining plan.
IU Southeast will see a 2% increase in all room rates, with the most common rate at $8,078.
These increases are part of the university’s ongoing efforts to maintain and improve campus facilities. Several campuses are planning renovation projects and upgrades. The additional room and board costs are aimed at supporting these projects and addressing inflationary pressures on dining and housing services.
University officials emphasized that the rate increases are necessary to continue providing high-quality housing and dining options to students, and they remain committed to offering affordable options as they work to enhance the student experience across all IU campuses.
