BEDFORD – The Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County is set to tip off its youth basketball league this Saturday, Nov. 23, at the club’s facility located at 2009 19th St. in Bedford.
The day will begin at 9 a.m. with instructional-only sessions for pre-kindergarteners. Children are encouraged to bring their own basketballs, but extras will be available. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes.
At 10 a.m., the league’s youngest competitive players will take to the court. Kindergarten and first-grade teams will face off in two games: Army vs. Notre Dame and Indiana University vs. North Carolina.
Second and third-grade teams will follow at 11 a.m., with Texas playing Notre Dame and Oregon taking on Indiana University.
Older age groups will begin their seasons after the holiday break, starting the week of Dec. 2. Coaches will be in contact with players and parents to schedule any pre-season practices. A full season schedule for all age levels will be released in the coming days.
